Try This: Static Electricity

What you need:
-A sheet of aluminum foil
-A clear cup or bottle
-A balloon

What to do:
Tear off small pieces of aluminum foil and crumple them up
Place the crumpled foil in a clear cup or bottle.
Blow a balloon up and then rub it against your hair or a wool shirt.
Now move the part of the balloon that was rubbed on the outside of the cup or bottle and watch what the crumpled pieces of foil do.

What is happening:
Static electricity creates an imbalance of the electrons on an object. To rebalance, it creates an attractive force on certain metal objects. This invisible force is similar to the attracting and pushing force that magnets and magnetic fields create.

The balloon has an electrostatic field from the static electricity and can interact with the crumpled foil.
How much can you move the foil?
