The theme of Space Day 2024 is Space Rocks
Explore comets, asteroids, meteoroids, meteors, meteorites and other out of this world space debris
It's almost time to celebrate our favorite day of the year filled with space exploration, telescopes, rockets and more! This action-packed celebration is all about the science of space with special hands-on activities and live demonstrations, plus the museum's permanent exhibits with NASA artifacts, interactive simulators and more.
Activities are located throughout the museum and are available only on this special day.
Live demos at Science Side Stage during event include Reaction Rockets, Air Pressure Vacuum, Make a Comet, and more!
Activities include:
Meteorites or Meteor-wrongs? Can you guess which rock is a meteorite?
Crater Impacts Create an out of this world crater landscape and discover what impacts reveal
Ice Orbs Comets are cosmic snowballs of ice and rock. What can we learn from them?
Drill Bots How do scientists mine on celestial objects? Let's build a robot drill!
Artifacts by SMO Collections Check out some space artifacts that aren't normally on display
