Science Museum Oklahoma is the place for Cub Scouts and Scouts to explore the world of science! The museum's special Scouts-only events include weekend badge classes, private badge classes, and Scout Science Overnights.

Cub Scout Badge Classes

March 28, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Bear Cubs Super Science Badge

Explore electricity, dive into density, and take a peek at polarity as we explore the science in our everyday lives. We’ll do some hair-raising static experiments and even learn how to make art with household shaving cream!

Webelos Adventures in Science

Come investigate physics, chemistry, electricity and more in this fascinating exploration of multiple sciences. We’ll blast off with rockets, spin with centripetal force, and concoct some toothpaste for elephants in this can’t-miss class!

Cub Scout Science Overnights

Nov. 22, 2019 and Feb. 21, 2020 | 6 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Explore the great indoors! At Science Museum Oklahoma’s Scout Science Overnights, Scouts will get a camping experience unlike any other, and some extra scouting skills to boot. Scouts will experience a live science show, engage in special hands-on activities, see a star show in the Kirkpatrick Planetarium and camp out among the exhibits. Science Museum Oklahoma's Scout Overnights are exclusively for Scouts and their families.

Badge Classes

  • Tiger and Wolf Cubs: Assorted activities that count toward multiple adventures; Bear Cubs Forensics; Bear Cubs Super Science; Webelos Adventures in Science; Webelos Engineering

Pre-registration is required for badge classes and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Scouts may select a badge class during the registration process if registering online or over the phone. Scouts registering using the group registration form should rank their choices as applicable.

Each Scout may attend one badge class per Science Overnight. Registering for a Science Overnight does not guarantee participation in a badge class as badge classes do fill to capacity. To check to see if your Scout's desired badge class is available, please call Guest Relations at (405) 602-3760.

Cost and Registration

  • $45 per scout participant, $35 per scout when registering 10 or more Scouts together*
  • $25 per chaperone/parent

Registration closes the Wednesday before the Overnight. *Scouts must register together to qualify for the reduced rate — individual registrants can't be added to a group rate later. Payment for groups can be made over the phone or by check. Registration isn't guaranteed until payment is received. To register a group, please use the group registration form:

Scouts BSA Badge Classes

Cost and Registration

Classes are $15 per scout for one class or $25 if registered for two classes on the same day. Online registration for Saturday Scouts closes the Wednesday prior to each badge class. In some cases, space may still be available after online registration has closed. To inquire about space and register over the phone, contact Guest Relations at (405) 602-3760. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required to hold your Scout's space

Badge Requirements

SMO museum educators strive to meet as many badge requirements as possible during the allotted class time. Blue Cards or certificates with the covered requirements will be distributed to each student.

Parents, Guardians, and Troop Leaders

For the safety of all Scouts, a parent, guardian, or troop leader responsible for each Scout must remain at SMO for the duration of all badge classes. One guardian is required for every six Scouts. Adults attending a badge class with a Scout are not charged general admission to attend the class, however general admission is required for those who plan to enjoy the museum after the class has concluded when the class takes place during regular museum hours.

Weather Badge

Get ready to be blown away by the science of meteorology. We’ll build our very own anemometers, practice weather safety, and construct cloud viewers, all while learning what causes weather, whether we like it or not!

Delve into the differences between pests and pollinators in this exciting exploration into the lives and science of insects! We’ll build a bug scrapbook and learn how these creatures impact our lives and the world around us.
