Doctor Valerie Lewis is a research scientist at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the OKC-VA Medical Center. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Spelman College (Atlanta, GA), her Masters of Science degree in Physiology from Wayne State School of Medicine (Detroit, MI), and her Ph.D. in Pathology from OU Health Science Center (OKC, OK). Dr. Lewis's research focuses on autoimmune disorders that disproportionately affect women and people of color (lupus and Sjogren's Disease). Additionally, she works as an adjunct professor in Department of Biology at Langston University, where she teaches and facilitates student research opportunities for underrepresented groups with the OKC-VA and OMRF.
In her spare time, Valerie loves playing video games and baking with her husband, and two beautiful children.
