STEM Camps for Kids in Oklahoma City

If you’re looking for engaging STEM and STEAM camps in Oklahoma City, Science Museum Oklahoma offers five exciting camp programs throughout the year—winter, spring, summer, fall, and special break camps. Designed for pre-K through 6th grade (typically ages 4 – 12), our camps keep kids learning, exploring, and having fun even when school is out. With hands-on science activities, creative problem-solving, and interactive experiments, our camps spark curiosity and make every school break an adventure!

Summer Camps - Early Explorers

Rainbow Magic

Inspire your inner artist as we mix colors, create rainbow slime, and investigate amazing color-changing reactions! Explore the science of light through prisms, chromatography, and reflections. Step inside the giant kaleidoscope in Curiocity and explore the smART Space Gallery to see how science and art come together in brilliant ways.

Let’s explore the fascinating – and sometimes smelly – science of farm animals and agriculture. Discover how farmers grow the foods we love while learning about animals, plants, and the science behind life on the farm.

See into the Sea

Dive in for a deep sea adventure! Examine ancient fossils from the Cretaceous seas, explore Science Museum Oklahoma’s Oceanarium, and discover the creatures that live inside different shells. Don’t miss the boat – this ocean exploration is going to be a whale of a good time!

Colors, Creatures, & Curiosity

Bright colors, wiggly bugs, and fascinating animals are waiting to be discovered! Through hands-on art and science activities, we’ll investigate the colors, shapes, and textures found all around us. Let’s explore how creativity and curiosity help us understand the natural world.

Camp Ew

Finally, it’s time for the gross stuff! This week is all about the eww as we explore the messy side of science. Create foamy elephant toothpaste, mix gooey erupting reactions, and observe wiggly worms up close. Along the way, we’ll practice observing, predicting, and describing the strange textures and surprising changes we discover. It’s gross, it’s science, and it’s awfully awesome!

Dirt, Diggin’, & Dinos

Grab your shovels and get ready to dig! In this archaeology adventure, we’ll search beneath the ground for hidden treasures. Investigate cool rocks, examine fossils under microscopes, and follow clues to discover dinosaurs and other ancient life.

Busy Bodies

What’s inside your body? What makes a burp happen? How do your senses help you explore the world? Bring your amazing human body to camp as we investigate our five senses and discover how our bodies work.

Ahoy there! Set sail on a pirate adventure as we search the museum for treasure and the science behind it. Discover why ships float, explore ocean creatures, and learn how sailors navigate using maps and the night sky. There’s a whole ocean of discoveries waiting for our curious pirate crew!

How much do you love space? To the moon and back! Explore the wonders of outer space as we taste astronaut food, launch rockets, travel through our solar system, and visit the Love’s Planetarium for a special show. Get ready to meet the friendly night sky!

Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Are you ready to travel way, way back in time? Explore the ancient world before the first dinosaurs appeared and discover the early creatures that began to roam the Earth. What did these prehistoric animals eat? How did they survive? Through hands-on investigations, we’ll uncover clues about gigantic and not-so-gigantic creatures that lived at the dawn of the dinosaurs.

Backyard Science
You don’t have to travel far to discover amazing science! Let’s explore the critters, plants, rocks, and soil hiding right outside our doors. Observe insects, dig beneath your feet, and uncover the tiny wonders waiting in your own backyard.

Around the World

Do you love to explore? Let’s travel around the globe to discover the animals, environments, and natural wonders found in different parts of our world. Through stores and hands-on activities, we’ll observe patterns in nature, investigate how plants and animals survive in different habitats, and discover the science that connects our big, amazing planet.

Week 4 | June 22 - 26

Creepy Crawly Science

Some animals might look scary, but science helps us understand them! With our Danger Ranger guides, we’ll investigate insects and wildlife to discover which creatures are harmless and which use special defenses to protect themselves. Observe animal traits, look for clues in nature, and learn how scientists study wildlife to better understand the world around us.

The Gross Goods

Who’s ready to get messy? Dive into the slimy, squishy side of science as we mix ooey oobleck, experiment with colorful reactions, and search the garden for fascinating bugs. Observe strange textures, investigate surprising changes, and discover the science behind some of nature’s weirdest wonders.

Pets Unleashed

Puppies, kitties, turtles, and hamsters – some pets hop, others have scales, and a few can even fly! Our animal friends come in many shapes, sizes, and personalities, but being a pet owner is more than just cuddles and playtime – it’s a big responsibility. In this exciting adventure we’ll become animal scientists as we investigate the needs of living things and explore the habitats that keep them safe and healthy. With hands-on activities, observations, and a few friendly animal encounters, we’ll discover the amazing science behind our furry, scaly, and feathered friends!

Most Magnificent Camp

You can make things and unmake things. You have wonderful ideas. You can make the most magnificent thing! Draw your plans, gather supplies, and get to work. Together with trained professionals we will create Rube Goldberg machines, investigate weaving, and find all kinds of objects to build & design.

Week 8 | Jul 20 - 24

Mighty Science

Zap! Boom! KaPow! It’s time to use our super powers for science! Move objects with magnetic powers, tune in your spidey senses to create a sticky slime (web), and so much more! We’ll use our creativity, observations, and clever thinking to unleash our science superpowers!

Week 9 | Jul 27 - 31

One Small Step

Take one small step into the exciting world of outer space! Campers will explore what Earth looks like from space, investigate the different planets in our solar system, and learn what it means for objects to orbit. Through hands-on activities and big imaginations, we’ll blast off together on a stellar adventure as we take our first steps into space science.

Roots & Wings

Calling all plant lovers and bug explorers! Let’s head outdoors to investigate the science of the natural world. Examine the tiny details of leaves under microscopes, observe birds and insects in their habitats, and discover how plants, animals, and their environments are connected.

Week 3 | June 15 - 19

Treasure Hunters

Explorers, archeologists, and treasure hunters all know that searching for items from the past can require a lot of digging. Investigate rocks, minerals, and fossils as we explore geological wonders, grow sparkling crystals, and build our own excavation site to uncover hidden clues from the past. The real treasure is in the hunt as we discover how the science of geology pans out.

Math in the Making

Math helps us build amazing things! Use numbers, patterns, and measurements as we design machines, tackle engineering challenges, and test creative ideas. From launching trebuchets to building moving creations, we’ll discover the surprising math hidden in making and building.

Creepy Creatures

Curious about creepy creatures and strange science? Let’s investigate spiders, worms, and other organisms with skeletons and some with none at all! Examine how different bodies are built, discover how these animals move and survive, and explore the surprising science behind some of nature’s weirdest wonders.

Week 6 | Jul 6 - 10

Junior Medics

Scrub in and discover the science of the human body! Learn how doctors and surgeons study and care for our amazing bodies as we practice steady hands with sutures, explore how different body parts work together, and investigate curious medical tools and specimens in the lab.

Week 7 | Jul 13 - 17

Chemical Chaos

We’re mixing it up in this chemically cool STEM camp as we explore colorful reactions, test the polymer chains of Science Museum Oklahoma’s secret slime formulas, and discover the science behind explosive experiments (safely). Get ready for things that pop, fizz, and boom!

Week 8 | Jul 20 - 24

Just Goo It

No, we’re not kidding – five full days of slime! Fluffy slime, sludgy slime, crunchy slime, all the slime recipes we can find. It’s going to get sticky as we explore the science behind this famously slippery stuff. That means mixing ingredients to investigate amazing chemical reactions and stretchy polymers. Leave the mess to us and let’s get gooing!

One Giant Leap

Get ready to take a giant leap into the wonders of space exploration! In this camp, we’ll explore the science and engineering that helps us investigate the universe. Discover distant exoplanets, learn how objects move in orbit, design your own satellite, and visit Love’s Planetarium to journey among the stars. Join us as we explore the vast universe beyond our planet!

Step into the world of mystery and investigation in this suspense filled, hands-on forensics camp! Become a crime scene investigator as you collect and analyze evidence – from fingerprinting and plaster casting to decoding secret messages and more. Use real forensic science techniques to crack the case, present your findings to a jury, and uncover the identity of the culprit. Justice depends on you!

Build & Destroy

Constructing cool contraptions is the name of the game this week! Design and build fascinating machines like automata, zoetrope, trebuchet, and Rube Goldberg devices as we explore the science of motion, mechanics, and engineering. To make room for the new, we’ll have to deconstruct the old! Get ready to create and break things with us!

Wild Oklahoma

Biology is the science of life and Oklahoma is full of it! Investigate native plants, insects, and animals as we explore the living world around us. Examine local water samples to search for tiny microorganisms, identify fascinating bugs, and discover how scientists study the diverse life found across our state.

Get smART

Where creativity meets discovery! Explore the “A” in STEAM as we use ideas from biology, astronomy, physics, and more to inspire colorful creations. Investigate patterns in nature, play with light and motion, and design artistic projects that transform scientific ideas into one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

Microbe Mysteries

Not all germs are created equal! In this microscopic investigation, we’ll explore the tiny organisms that can help or harm living things. Grow colorful petri dish art, investigate mysterious smells, and discover how scientists study microbes that affect our health and environment.

smoXP- The Science of Gaming

Let the games begin – again! Back by popular demand, we’re diving into the exciting world of games – from video games and card games to live-action role play. We’ll explore the science behind how games are made, discover what makes them so much fun, and even create our own. Whether you’re pressing start, shuffling the deck, or stepping into character, this camp is all about playing, learning, and leveling up your gamer knowledge. Get in the game!

Bots in Action

This is your call to explore the world of robotics! From giant space rovers to tiny surgical robots, discover how engineers design machines to solve real-world problems. Build and test robotic creations, explore the mechanics behind moving parts, and try your hand at programming as we investigate this powerful and future-forward field of engineering.

Elemental Chemistry

The Eagle has Landed

No atmosphere, no weather, and no oceans of water—just a rocky landscape and the occasional impact of asteroids and comets. This is a glimpse of what standing on the Moon’s surface might feel like. In this camp, we’ll explore the challenges of traveling to and living on the Moon, learn about the astronauts who made the journey possible, and investigate the science and engineering behind lunar exploration. Get ready to imagine, experiment, and begin your own adventure beyond Earth.

Extended Care

Need a little extra time and flexibility? Science Museum Oklahoma now offers extended care for before and after camp so campers enjoy even more supervised exploration.

For campers between kindergarten and 6th grade, weekly options are now available:

  • Before camp | 7:30am – 8:30am | $75
  • After camp | 3:45pm – 5:00pm | $90
  • Both before and after camp | $150
