KNOW A BOY SCOUT WHO LOVES SCIENCE?

Science Museum Oklahoma is the place for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to explore the world of science! The museum's special Scouts-only events include weekend badge classes, private badge classes, and Scout Science Overnights.

2018-19 Boy Scout and Cub Scout Badge Classes

  • 7-10 p.m., Nov. 9, 2018:  Boy Scouts Astronomy Badge
  • 7-10 p.m., March 8, 2019:  Boy Scouts Astronomy Badge
  • 1-4 p.m., March 9, 2019:  Boy Scouts Weather Badge
  • 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 23, 2019: Bear Cubs Super Science Badge
  • 1-4 p.m. March 23, 2019: Webelos Adventures in Science Badge
  • 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., April 20, 2019: Boy Scouts Insect Study Badge

Badge Class Registration and Requirements

Cost and Registration: Classes are $15 per scout for one class or $25 if registered for two classes on the same day. Online registration for Saturday Scouts closes the Wednesday prior to each badge class. In some cases, space may still be available after online registration has closed. To inquire about space and register over the phone, contact Guest Relations at (405) 602-3760. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required to hold your scout'space.

Badge Requirements: SMO museum educators strive to meet as many badge requirements as possible during the allotted class time. Blue Cards or certificates with the covered requirements will be distributed to each student.

Parents, Guardians, and Troop Leaders: Please note that a parent, guardian, or troop leader responsible for each scout must remain at SMO for the duration of a badge class. One guardian is required for every six scouts. Adults attending a badge class with a scout will not be charged general admission to attend the class, however general admission is required for those who plan to enjoy the museum after the class has concluded when the class takes place during regular museum hours.

Boy Scout and Cub Scout Science Overnights

Explore the great indoors! At Science Museum Oklahoma’s Scout Science Overnights, scouts will get a camping experience unlike any other, and some extra scouting skills to boot. Scouts will experience a live science show, engage in special hands-on activities, see a star show in the Kirkpatrick Planetarium and camp out among the exhibits. Science Museum Oklahoma's Scout Overnights are exclusively for scouts and their families.

Registration closes the Wednesday before each Scout Science Overnight. Scout Science Overnights begin with check-in at 6 p.m. Activities begin at 7 p.m. Participants should depart the museum by 7:30 a.m. the following morning.

Badge Classes at Scout Overnights
Pre-registration is required for badge classes and classes are filled on a first-come,first-served basis. Scouts may select a badge class during the registration process if registering online or over the phone. Scouts registering using the group registration form should rank their choices as applicable.

Each Scouts may attend one badge class per Science Overnight. Registering for a Science Overnight does not guarantee participation in a badge class as badge classes do fill to capacity. To check to see if your scout's desired badge class is available, please call Guest Relations at (405) 602-3760.

Cost, Registration, and Schedule

  • $45 per scout participant, $35 per scout when registering 10 or more scouts.
  • $25 per chaperone/parent
