Field Notes: How Mammals Sense Their World
Field Notes: How Mammals Sense Their World invites guests to experience life through the eyes, ears, and noses of animals. The exhibition draws on the scientific concept of umwelt, the unique way each species perceives its surroundings. Through original artwork, interactive animations, scent-based storytelling, authentic specimens, and animal enrichment tools, the exhibition reveals how mammals navigate and understand their environment.
Created in collaboration with:
- students from the University of Oklahoma School of Visual Art
- Sam Noble Museum
- Oklahoma City Zoo
Field Notes combines artistic expression with scientific research to foster empathy and understanding across species.

This interactive exhibition features eight world-renowned artists who transform the classic zoetrope into mesmerizing works of art using light, sculpture, drawing, and perspective.

smART Talks
smART Talks is a speaker series at Science Museum Oklahoma that celebrates the connection between artistic expression and scientific thinking. Each program features artists whose work is shaped by science, creativity, and experimentation.
Guests hear directly from creators about how their ideas take shape, what inspires their work, and the discoveries that happen along the way. Presentations include time for audience questions, creating a space for conversation, reflection, and shared curiosity.
