LifeTiles by Rufus Butler Seder

May 16, 2014

Rufus Butler Seder is a world-class public artist, award-winning filmmaker, international best-selling children’s book author and a prolific inventor.
Rufus’ interest in the history of cinema led to his investigation into antique motion picture toys and, significantly, to a desire to invent a way to make movies on a grand scale using no electricity, mechanics or special lighting.
LIFETILES murals grace scores of public places around the world, notably the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Visitor Center, Union Station (Washington, DC), the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), the Copernicus Science Center (Warsaw), the Taiwan Aquarium, and other science museums, zoos, aquariums, universities, national parks and town squares.
The success of LIFETILES led Rufus to investigate ways to devise other optical wonders. His internationally best-selling optically animated children’s books: Gallop!, Swing!, Waddle!, Star Wars Scanimation, Wizard of Oz Scanimation and, this year, SANTA! contain illustrations that magically appear to come to life as the pages are turned.
